Flower Study
No, this is not a pastel painting. It was painted with oil sticks.
Comments from my super awesome adviser: "I like your Chinese painting style, so subtle yet very elegant." She does not like the background I made, and said "It's like you put feet on a snake!"

Caumsett state park-A Trail in Winter
Oil on Linen Panel 14"x11"
Yes, I ventured out and painted in a snow field. I finished the whole process in one hour and twenty minutes. It was so cold that I couldn't feel my feet by the time I finished. Although I have to put up with the cold weather, I am very happy today. The reason? I got to use my new Soltek easel for the very first time. It was awesome! I think the painting turned out well too. My super awesome adviser said the scene is boring because it is so black and white. Oh well, I paint what I see and I enjoy it!

Snowset
Oil on Canvas board 8"x8"
This is actually a sunset scene. I stood at the same window but painted from another angle.
Snow Flowers
Oil on Canvas board 8"x8"
I haven't been painting for a while. One reason is because I am busy. The other reason is I found out that it is difficult to set up an interesting still life to paint. This morning the Sun came out after the blizzard. The soft snow accumulated on the tree branch looks like cotton flowers. They stand out beautifully against the blue sky. I chose one branch near my window, quickly made a sketch just enough to catch the scene before it been blown away.
